Parents Who Text

Page 46 of Snap No. 5Page 47 of Snap No. 5

My parents have become texting addicts, and it ain’t pretty

Recently my parents said goodbye to their Nokia phones (manufactured circa 2001), and jumped head first into smartphone territory. That’s right—my parents have matching iphones. It’s kind of cute, and they certainly look pretty damn hip these days, sending text messages with Emojis and snappin’ photos for their Facebook profiles.

But the texting has turned from cute to catastrophic. In the middle of the day, EVERY day, I see this flash on my screen: “What are you doing?” Well, I am working. Ya know, working hard like you raised me to do. Same as yesterday when you texted me at nearly the same time, and the day before, and the day before that. And honestly, no parent needs to text their grown kids at 5:45 am how much the dog loved his walk.

(ok, J/K—love you mom and dad, text me anytime!). —ms
