An analog camera app for iPhone. You choose a lens, a film and a flash before you shoot, and the look is in the photograph when you take it. Lucas Buick and Ryan Dorshorst made it in 2009, and Apple named it iPhone App of the Year in 2010.
The one Top Nine photographers shoot most is John S with BlacKeys Supergrain. Every lens page shows what it’s paired with most. John S ↘ · All gear ↘
No. iPhone only.
Yes. The camera and 18 lenses, films and flashes are free. Camera Club adds the other 366, every Hipstamatic app and each new camera first, and the annual plan starts with a free month.
It’s still here, still independent. Hipstamatic Classic, the 2009 original, is still on the App Store. Hipstamatic is the camera we make now, Party! came in 2024, and Camera Club brings new cameras through January.
Hipstamatic went on sale on 9 December 2009. That makes it older than the iPad, the iPhone’s front camera and Instagram. Hipstamatic Classic, that first app, is still on the App Store and still updated.
It’s a camera. You choose the lens and film before you shoot.
They’re yours. We never sell them or train on them.
