Facebook Friends
“Facebook Friends” is a term I use loosely, and for the love of God, stop requesting me to play Lucky Slots
Facebook —helping us all live in “a more open and connected world.” It really is pretty amazing what Facebook has done: It’s a live journal of most everyone’s life, acts as a news feed for major events, and reconnects us with tons of old friends.
Sadly, some of those “friends” happen to be from high school or middle school, and you haven’t seen them in over 10 years. At first it seems fine to accept friend requests from anyone you went to school with—they can’t be that bad, right? Next thing you know, your feed is clogged with Obama “birther” posts and hyper-conservative bigoted rants. You wonder what happened to that sweet girl from Biology class, and the nice guy from Phys. Ed. After the hundreth request to play Lucky Slots (and I mean really, people play that shit?!), I hit “unfriend” faster than you can say Farmville. —ms
