Of Cabo Tourism

B Ienvenidos

Once known for its intense Spring Break scene, Cabo has come a long way to become the destination of the stars. With events like the Los Cabos Film Festival bringing in posh crowds to ocean-front venues, its easy to see how its popularity keeps on growing. Come for the Films and stay for the whale watching, adventure sports, boutique hotels and new culinary scene. If golf or sports fishing are more your pace, explore the courses and waters of the Sea of Cortez. It’s easy to see why Cabo is shaping into a trendy adult playground.

Hotel el ganzo Cabo offers some of the best Hotels in all of Mexico and there is definitely something for everyone. For a hip boutique experience, try the art-centric el ganzo hotel, which features a proper beach club and rooftop “human acquarium” hot tub. The new hotel MAR Adentro is a designer’s dream. The clean minimalist decore and chic restaurant are reasons alone to visit. If luxury is in you’re budget, then there is no better stay than One & Only palmilla. And for those who prefer an all-inclusive resort with in-room private pools, visit secrets puerto los cabo.

Secrets puerto los cabo While reading a book at the beach or lounging by the pool are nice, sometimes you need to kick up the adrenalin. Wild canyon Adventures offers ATV tours that treck over suspension bridges and through trails to the ocean for proper Hipstamatic moments. An 8 course ziplining tour zig zags through the canyon while people bungee jump from a suspended hut. If you haven’t lost your breath yet, try the Giant Swing. For those that prefer not to loose their stomach, go for a ride on one of their circus-rescued camels.

Unforg Etlable Cuisine

el nido is perhaps the most interesting sculpture I’ve ever eaten in. A nest-like pod becomes the organic trellis that shades your meal of light, bright organic dishes. A tomato & cucumber gazpacho with olive oil & herb grisini opens the meal, followed by a shrimp aguachile and finished with a seared local yellowfin tuna, avocado & mint purée, jicama relish & chili oil. A truly spectacular meal in super serene setting.

Acre baja is a new farm to table “club house” complete with pool and mango orchards. Ingredients don’t travel very far to your plate or glass as their 25 acre farm produces most of them. A chef’s tasting menu complete with cocktail pairing is presented featuring a crudo ceviche with kaffir + lemongrass ice, chicken liver mousse with fig jam and chicken chicharrón, and fried + pickled + roasted beets with avocado and goat cheese. The desserts were equally as impressive as the courses and cocktails. Every detail of the setting also contributed to this most perfect meal.

Aqua by larbi at the one&only Palmilla is set on a cliff with the ocean as your backdrop. Chef Larbi Dahrouch adds a Morrocan twist to the flavors of Mexico. Though the menu changes with the seasons and shifts in inspiration, the variety of ceviches they offer are what keep me coming back... did I mention the view.
