Preparation

For this concoction, I combine the mint (a few sprigs), 1 oz of lime juice, 1 lime wedge, 1 oz of simple syrup and a 1/2 oz of green chartreuse in a mixing glass. First thing I add is a splash of lemon-lime soda. Then I muddle (this is important because the extra carbonated liquor not only allows the drink to liquify itself whilst muddling, but carbonated soda is great for releasing the flavor of mint). Okay, after this step is finished, I add crushed ice and 2 oz of rye whiskey (I used Bulleit Rye in my cocktail because I absolutely love the smooth flavor of this rye). I then shake the ingredients in mixing glass with a shaker. Dump all ingredients in a rocks glass. Top with lemon-lime soda, garnish with mint. -Khalil Muhsin
