San Juan, Puerto Rico

This is ‘old san juan’, the historic district surrounding the weathered Castillo San Felipe del Morro. Our stay here in Puerto Rico is a short walk. Later this afternoon we are to board one of those monsters of tourism - a cruise ship. I’ve always been fearful of those things. The ‘call of the void’ has always seemed too real, a pull to tamper with fate. But this place is an amazing city, so full of life.
Last night my wife and I wandered the streets and back alleys looking for this one particular bar that played great local music, as we were told. We eventually found the point of our search, loaded with fantastic sounds, seedy and small with only a few tables, just our desire. The music and people went beyond our asking. We later found out our meandering could have easily not turned out so well. We got lucky.
Last night everything was dark. Today however, the city is vibrant with color. It’s so beautiful here. Several of the streets are even paved in blue tile. I’ve been to Cuba
