Beautifying empty spaces

you’ll forget your destination when you walk past one of his murals, being caught up in intricate details of curvy lines and colors. His art is captivating, almost hypnotizing.

Joshua Mays is a self-taught painter, muralist, and illustrator currently working on print releases, murals, and a few upcoming exhibitions. There’s no doubt he’s an artist—his living space is full of sketches and drawings. His walls are covered in beautiful and colorful lines of illustrative stories, we’ll presume from inspiration that had to immediately be put on surface. Even though he’s done several international commissions in places like London, Johannesburg, and Mexico City, special work for artists Jill Scott and Rich Medina, and other projects for social organizations, he’s a humble, creative genius we love to love. —rm
