Reality in Fragments

Photo Mosaics by Matteo Rosso

35 years consulting and still, it’s cameras that I love. I can use old film cameras or digital, but my preference goes to Polaroid instant cameras and Hipstamatic. These two mediums are similar because they can be shared immediately, they have strong, particular aesthetics, and they have deeply transformed the concept of photography.

My mosaics are inspired, or better said, they are visual quotes, of the great masters like David Hockney and Maurizio Galimberi, that I rendered into reality by dividing it into fragments and giving a different and unique point of view. I use mosaics to create a different perception of the space and the objects, and to create bigger images. I’ve created these works all over the world (Japan, India, Italy, Spain) concentrating especially on monuments, but l continue to explore the technique.
