Urban Hot Spots & Underground Treasures

“Welcome to seattle,” says the pilot as we arrive on an expected overcast afternoon. We’re here for 3 days and have a detailed itinerary that starts with dinner at the top of the Space Needle. Two bites into the meal we realize we are going to have to make some changes to our to-do list: While the view was amazing from up there, it became obvious we’re not going to be happy with the standard tourist destinations.

Brunch the next morning lands us at Skillet in Capitol Hill, an incredible diner with a queue that reflected the quality of the grub in which we were about to indulge. Their love for bacon jam shone through in both their bloody marys and in their grilled cheese. And their poutine...c’est magnifique! After getting the skinny on the city from our lovely waitress, we hit the road with the sun unexpectedly on our side, targeting the best coffee, shopping and seafood in town.

While the city has a ton to offer, exploring by foot was really the highlight of the trip. By the end of the night all we wanted was a perfectly crafted cocktail and we were not disappointed: here’s my must-drink list from the best bars in The Emerald City:

Must-drink List

Zig Zag Cafe Bathtub Gin & Co.
