Everyday Africa

Page 90 of Snap No. 4Page 91 of Snap No. 4

To fully understand a culture one must see the things that make the people smile Africa can be the place of extremes that we see so oftenbut it can also be familiar. Everyday Africa is a work of casual exploration, featuring photographs by Peter DiCampo and Austin Merrill, who have both lived on the continent as journalists and volunteers. Like many documentary works from Africa, this one is humanitarian in its motivations; but rather than draw attention to a specific crisis, we hope this work serves as a much-needed reminder that the mundane and ordinary are ever-present. — Peter DiCampo
