New idea for election season: more critical thinking, less drama

I’m a huge FAN of giving a damn about the direction we’re headed as a country. Being politically aware isn’t enough: Acting on that awareness, no matter what your beliefs, is what really matters. That’s why election season is such an invigorating time for us as a country. We all get to rally around the candidate we believe will take our country in the best direction.

But cheese and rice, why does election season bring out the extra crazy and hate in people? And by people, I also mean “news networks,” a term I use lightly when fact checking is bypassed for sensational/bullshit headlines. So, while I can’t wait to cast my vote and get that little blue sticker proving I took part in my civil right, I’m just as excited to move forward to focus on what the next 4 years bring, and whether or not I’m moving to Canada (¡Obamanos!). —ms
