Hipstamatic Reboots Camera Club with Four New Analog Apps
Every Hipstamatic app is now in one membership, and Winter 26/27 brings four new cameras built for the photographs that only happen once.

San Francisco, CA, October 12, 2026 — Hipstamatic, which turned the iPhone into an analog camera in 2009, today rebooted Camera Club, its membership for photographers. Every Hipstamatic app is now part of it: Hipstamatic, TinType and Party! from today, and each new camera in Winter 26/27 as it debuts. Members get each one first.
Winter 26/27 is the first collection from the new Camera Club: four handmade camera apps for iPhone, released and named the way a fashion house names a collection. TinType is out now. IncrediBooth, SwankoLab and Cinamatic follow through the winter. Hipstamatic is introducing them with a 30-second lookbook film at hipstamatic.app/winter-26-27.
The reboot is Hipstamatic's answer to endless photography. A photograph used to cost something: film, money, a week of waiting for prints. Then pictures became free (with digital), then infinite (with cloud storage), and now, with a prompt, optional. Every camera in Winter 26/27 goes the other way. Each one asks the photographer to do something at the moment it happens, so what comes out could only have happened once.
"People ask if we're anti-AI. We're not. We're anti-endless," said Lucas Buick, Hipstamatic's co-founder. "You can type a perfect picture of anything, then another one, and another. A prompt makes one of a million. You make one of one."
That idea is as old as Hipstamatic. "We didn't start Hipstamatic to replace film," Buick said. "We started it because we were cheap and lazy. Polaroid had stopped making film, everything else cost a fortune, and we never had the right camera with us. But the phone was always in our pocket. So we started making camera apps for all the analog stuff we wish we had with us. Camera Club is that idea, finished: every camera we make, in one membership."
Hipstamatic went on sale on December 9, 2009, launching on iOS 3.2, and was Apple's iPhone App of the Year in 2010. It still works the way it did then. You choose a lens and a film from more than 200 before you shoot, then press the button and see what you get. About half the photographs people post from Hipstamatic today were never edited, which we refer to as "shot from the hip" on the Hipstamatic network.
Winter 26/27
TinType ▶ One sitting, one plate. Out now. A wet-plate portrait camera. You sit still, the shutter fires, and you shake the plate while it develops. TinType 3 also includes Find TinType, a guide to 55 real wet-plate studios in 16 countries, for when you want to sit for the real thing.
IncrediBooth ▶ One strip, with whatever faces you were making. A photo booth for iPhone that runs like the old analog booths at our favorite bars. The lamp counts down, it takes 4 frames, and the strip comes out of the slot.
SwankoLab ▶ Nobody pulls it the same way twice. A darkroom and print shop you work with your hands. Tilt the phone to rock the developer tray. Pull the squeegee across a silkscreen at your own speed. There's no randomness slider, and each result is unique one-of-one print.
Cinamatic ▶ Thirty seconds of tape. A 1980s camcorder. Press and hold the red button to record a few seconds at a time until the tape runs out, then eject it and watch it play back as one short film.
"The tech that powers SwankoLab is so much fun," said Ryan Dorshorst, Hipstamatic's co-founder. "You tip the tray and we use the gyroscope to simulate water carrying the pigment across the paper. When you pull the squeegee, the app reads how fast your finger is moving. The print is a record of what your hands did, so nobody can make it again. Including you."
Party! ▶ One night, everybody's camera. Out now, and part of Camera Club. Party! is a shared camera for a birthday, a dinner or a night out. Guests scan a QR code and Party! opens instantly. Everyone shoots on the same camera all night, and nobody sees the photographs until 8:00 the next morning, when they all arrive at once. Camera Club members get unlimited Deluxe Party! cameras, which include unlimited photo capacity and more customization options.
Camera Club
Camera Club has been Hipstamatic's membership for years. What's new is that it now covers everything Hipstamatic makes. Members get:
- Every lens, film and flash in Hipstamatic (more than 200), and its signature cameras
- Club gear in Hipstamatic Classic, with presets synced from Hipstamatic
- Unlimited TinType
- Unlimited Deluxe Party! cameras
- Each Winter 26/27 camera as it debuts, before anyone else
Camera Club is paid for by photographers, not advertisers. There are no ads and no third-party trackers in Hipstamatic's cameras, and photographs stay on the phone unless the photographer chooses to share them.
