Venice, Italy

Venice is a MAGICAL PLACE but ironically, it’s not easy to make intimate or particularly original. On a sunny, warm weekend, there are hordes of tourists everywhere. And everyone has a camera. A quick tour guide that tries to crunch information in a short time is of no help in documenting that intimate moment.
I wanted to capture the beauty of Venice, but also, to make it mine, to remember the places and not just collect a vast amount of photos. There was no other way than to just abandon the group, drink a great cup of Italian coffee, and walk with my eyes open, hoping to find beautiful moments. And most importantly, I wanted to enjoy Venice for its cultural and architectural identity. Italians may be hot-blooded, but they take it easy and enjoy themselves; I was trying to capture that attitude.
I believe good pictures should trigger a memory in the photographer’s mind and bring joy to the ones who happen to see them. I hope my colorful memories from Venice will be a source of joy.
