Bucketfeet: Our Latest Shoe
Obsession
Bucketfeet is collaborating with cool kid artists to produce custom-designed kicks. The results are rad shoes with some well-deserved global marketing for
the artists. Here are a few of our favorites.
Erin Burke Chicago, Illinois
Erin Burke’s illustrations are the kind of art that your eye gravitates towards. She plays masterfully with geometry, relegating strong lines and shapes to the background as she lets a singular, unexpected portrait of a bull or young urbanite take center-stage.
She cites Scandinavian design as inspiration, and though she currently resides in the often gray-skied Chicago, her work is almost always bursting with color. Perhaps it’s her picturesque (or so we imagine) South Carolina upbringing that infected her with a sharp sense for color—either way she brings an unmistakable vibrancy to both her personal pieces and the work she does as a professional graphic designer for Paper Source.
Dj Lu Bogotá, Colombia
Deemed the “Banksy of Bogottá,” djlu combines a classic fine-arts education with an unabashed love of the streets. He thrives off of the frenetic energy of Colombia’s urban landscapes, stenciling and stamping provocative, socially-loaded imagery all across the city, which he affectionally calls his “playground.” His work has become recognizable among much of Bogottá’s residents, and the pineapple-grenade hybrid featured on his bucketfeet shoe has come to symbolize his protest against the continued violence in Colombia’s agricultural areas.
Suiko Hiroshima,japan
From an early age, Suiko has drawn inspiration from his culturally and historically rich hometown, Hiroshima. He has been filling the city walls with color since his graduation from high school, and his art tends to focus on letters, bubbling shapes, dynamic line, and vibrant color schemes.
Jayson Atienz New York, New York
Odds are, you already know Jayson Atienza. If you’ve seen “Obama for America” art pieces, Pepsi promotions, HBO commercials, or Jeremy Piven’s feet in the movie “rocknrolla,” then you’ve likely witnessed the inimitable work of award-winning adman and gifted painter Jayson Atienza.
The Philippines-born, Jersey-raised artist has been drawing since he was five-years old, and he’s harnessed his innate talent to drive the creative behind big-name marketing campaigns since graduating from New York’s School of Visual Arts in 1999. Jayson’s personal artwork maintains a mesmeric, almost startling quality, which he translates into provocative and effective advertisements. His originality has earned him recognition from every major ad awards show, including The One Show, The Arts Directors Club, D&AD, Cannes Lion, and The Andy Awards.
