“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas , the way we live, what is happening.” -coco chanel

I never would have thought I’d be quoting Coco Chanel, but she makes a brilliant point that embodies why we at Snap pay so much attention to fashion — it’s a visual conversation about current ideas. A time capsule that helps to remind us of how history repeats itself. How grunge in the 90s dealt with counter establishment, and its return in the form of Dr. Martens, while destroyed jeans and leather jackets are an homage to free thinkers and rebels. We’ve surpassed the recession. We’re tired of being safe.

But fashion isn’t always shortlived and trendy. Many people dedicate their lives to this industry, and so this issue looks at fashion from all angles, by all the characters involved. Designers, bloggers, illustrators, photographers, and models — we cover the faces and personalities that help define what we see on the streets.

Now go out and take a risk. Layer the patterns, sport your polka dots with stripes, rock denim on denim, tie your flannels around your waist, and be bold enough to wear florals in the Fall. Fuck being safe. Stay true to your personal style.
