We’re All Strangers

Page 106 of Snap No. 8Page 107 of Snap No. 8

I set out to capture compelling STREET portraits of perfect strangers I meet, encounter on the streets, or other public situations and places. I have used Hipstamatic over the years and was looking for an app that would provide what I was looking for on my street portraits project. I shoot in color with the Jane Lens and Blanko Freedom 13 combination, and then convert to black and white before posting. The tones and subtle contrast that Jane and Blanko Freedom 13 create are exactly what I was looking for. And from a personal perspective, I’ve always believed in black and white photography over color. I recently read a statement from another photographer, “When you shoot in color, you capture a persons character, but when you shoot in black and white, you capture the persons soul.” I couldn’t agree more!

We’re All Strangers is a combination of photography and social exploration; a living project.
