A Second Life

It is a commonsense idea that trees live until they are uprooted and cut down for different uses.

This “fact” is actually false. If you look carefully at the cut pieces, you will happen to see life.

Taking the most extravagant shapes, branches and roots try to communicate that they are still alive, and force our mind to see in those strange forms familiar animals or weird creatures.

This is how I decided to use my favorite instant digital camera—Hipstamatic—to eternalize these “living creatures” that I like calling “Woody,” before they are finally destroyed. All photos were snapped with the John S lens and AO BW film.
