Karaoke King

Page 38 of Snap No. 6

I’ve lived in fear of standing in front of people and pretending Im in the shower.

I feel soo exposed, singing up there while everyone judges and laughs...at least, that’s how I always felt. Like at the end of my song, Simon is going to tell me about the screeching cats that sound better than me, and that I should have spared people’s ears. The very mention of the word “karaoke” would make me cringe and roll my eyes, followed by complete cold sweats at the thought that I may be dragged to the bar to get drunk enough to make it onstage only to leave my dignity with the mic. Karaoke King will never be a badge that I can honorably wear.

That is until I found my Karaoke song. Well, that and private rooms. It has changed my view on the whole experience. Who knew that Wonder Wall would also be my savior in a time of need and desperation. The song instantly makes the entire room sing along which takes the pressure off of me, and now you. You’re welcome. —me
