“Hopefully Each Print Has a Heart and a Life of It’s Own.” Will Ecke Albert + Marie

Albert + Marie is a husband and wife print shop, specializing in small run illustrations and prints, established in San Francisco in 2010 for the purpose of making cute things.

“We decided to start making prints on the side thinking it would be a fun outlet for creativity. I work as a designer during the day so making self-motivated design and art seemed to be something that would be fulfilling.” said Ecke.

In starting their side business, this husband and wife team has found it’s helped them explore their interests and influences, which often takes a back seat when juggling the day-to-day of client work.

“Our style is influenced by the 50s and 60’s. Modern design, vintage children’s illustrations, all the good stuff that comes from the last half century of design. Most of Albert + Marie’s prints are playful but still sophisticated—some more than others. Hopefully each has heart and a life of it’s own.”

And while juggling a full time gig and a side business can certainly prove to be difficult, Ecke and his wife try to continuously create so they stay motivated to grow the business and make things both they and others will love.

“We try to keep motivated to keep making things, so hopefully there is always something new in progress.”

As Albert + Marie gains traction, they’ve considered turning the side business into something more full time, although that’s not their focus.

“As far as making it a full-time thing, I’d say that someday hopefully it will be big enough to live on its own, but for now being a side project is wholly satisfying!”

Satisfaction—now that’s truly what ONE LIFE is all about.
