From the Editor Whoa, Wait... What Happened to 2012?

I’m sorry mayans but I’m going to need more time before this so-called apocolypse hits. How is it possible that the holidays are already here, when I’m still cleaning glitter out of my ears from last New Years’ extravaganza? Now I know that the year actually happened—there is no greater joy then scrolling back through the 5,287 pictures I have taken so far—but I just can’t wrap my head around how much we’ve accomplished as a magazine and how much is still on our to-do list for 2013.

We launched the magazine as a way to showcase the brilliant creatives in our community. Something more permanent than social media, that really applauded and gave a home to the photo stories our community shared with us. Because the stories have been so incredible, we wanted to give you an easier way to share your favorite photos and articles, and with this issue we’ve made it easy for you to share with everyone on Facebook, Twitter, and even Pinterest. This is a big milestone for us, and we can’t wait to see what some of your most shareable moments are from each issue.

In this issue, we “wrap up” the year, which includes highlights from this year’s Hipstamatic contests and some of the most beautiful user submitted photo stories during 2012. We also have a tongue-teasing holiday foodie gift guide, and pay remembrance to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

So, let’s give a little thanks and wrap our arms around the people we love. Let’s exit this year with a camera in our hands and love in our hearts. It’s time to put a bow on 2012, and start planning next year’s magnificent chaos. As we say at Hipstamatic, you only get ONE LIFE—and if you do it right, one is all you need!
