The Social Vegan

Nic Adler may spend most of his time backstage, but he’s definitely a rockstar. He revitalized la’s legendary club The Roxy, turning it into the #1 most followed music venue on Twitter and Facebook. He’s a community builder, social media luminary, and, oh yeah— a fantastic photographer.
What is your proudest accomplishment? Being part of the revitalization of The Sunset Strip. The early days of cooperation between the clubs like The Viper Room, The Comedy Store and The Roxy; coming together to put on community building events like the Tweet Crawls; reaching out to the bigger LA community through events like LA Vegan Beer Fest, Sunset Strip Record Swap and of course, The Sunset Strip Music Festival.
Most beautiful place you’ve ever photographed? Maldives is just magic—my wife and I were lucky enough to experience the atolls on our honeymoon. It’s one of those places that you just snap away and nature takes care of the rest.
When did you realize you had a knack and passion for photography?
There was always a Polaroid sitting around the house growing up, so the idea of looking through that hole and instantly having that moment captured was something I’ve always known. I took photography as a senior in high school and learned the fundamentals; I also did a internship with an NBA photographer, where I got to be down on floor in the photo pit. Shooting sports really taught me how to anticipate the shot, which I really think has been my biggest asset. Although that might have planted the seed of my passion, I’d say that not until the digital camera came into play did I really get really excited about picture-taking. I guess I was just impatient for the film to develop!
