From the Editor: Wanderlust
First of all, thank you for supporting the First issue of scene! The only reason Hipstamatic has been here for 7 years is because of our loyal and dedicated community. You motivate us to stay true to our photographic roots yet adapt to the technological advances of the iPhone camera and the standards of using it.
with that, we introduce scene, an update to snap that will likely evolve along the way because in this refreshed concept we want to cover more of the current state of the photography world. There is less and less need to decipher between mobile and slr – There is just beautiful images, created to inspire. So while most images will be Hipstamatic, we also want to feature other cameras and the work of the talented photographers that serve as inspiration.
now on to the theme of the issue. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t wake up and open every travel sale email in my inbox. I look at the deals and pretend to fit it into my busy schedule. I dream about the next destination and the food I’ll eat there. It’s this undying feeling that time is running out and I’m going to miss visiting a destination because I’ve gotten too old or too poor. I live for those moments of challenging language barriers and screwed up restaurant orders that result in new favorites. So the wanderlust issue is meant to leave us with a yearning to travel, explore, eat and be entertained.
you’ll also find the music that we’re listening to, guides to some of our favorite cities, captivating photo essays, as well as captured moments from the journey. As you explore this issue, send me your notes, suggestions, requests and submissions for future issues!
