Redefining Photojournalism

Photojournalism HipstaPak

Award-winning photojournalist Ben Lowy revolutionized the field of visual storytelling using Hipstamatic. Known for capturing compelling images in conflict zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan, Lowy used and iPhone with Hipstamatic to capture candid moments that would be impossible with a larger SLR camera.

Lowy's partnership with Hipstamatic led to the creation of the "Lowy Lens," part of the Photojournalism SnapPak. This lens offers slight saturation and contrast adjustments while preserving clarity and highlights, allowing photographers to produce images that are both realistic and stylistically distinct.

This innovative approach was highlighted when Lowy's Hipstamatic-shot images of Hurricane Sandy were featured on the cover of TIME magazine. By using his iPhone, Lowy was able to maneuver through challenging environments more easily, capturing candid and intimate moments without the intrusion of a large camera.

Lowy's use of Hipstamatic has not only pushed the boundaries of traditional photojournalism but also made high-quality visual storytelling accessible to a broader audience. His work continues to inspire both amateur and professional photographers to explore the potential of mobile photography in documenting important stories worldwide.
