TinType Portraiture

This month as a community challenge we are going to explore how far we can push portrait photography using the TinType shooting mode.

First introduced in 2012 for iPhone 5, The TinType SnapPak opened up the world of 19th century style photography to iOS— no need for wetplates. Since its debut TinType went on to get its own specialized app a few years later in the fall of 2014, allowing for more control over depth of field and other filter adjustments.

With each new iPhone the core depth technology has improved and when we rebuilt the Hipstamatic camera last Decemeber we added a special shooting mode dedicated to TinType.
